The International Day of Persons with Disabilities 3. December is an United Nations sanctioned day that aims to promote an understanding of people with disabilities and encourage support for their dignity, rights and wellbeing. Each year the UN announces a theme. The theme for 2015 is:

Inclusion matters: access and empowerment for people of all abilities.

We celebrate this event with an Open Day at Addis Guzo on December 12.

Last October Addis Guzo started officially its new project-part TES (Therapy, Economic Empowerment and Sports). The main objective of TES is: To improve the living conditions of people with disabilities and their families. The whole project proposal you find on our Website under English.

With TES we follow directly the intended aims of the UN proclamation for the International Day of Persons with Disabilities this year, wich says: "By promoting empowerment, real opportunities for people are created. This enhances their own capacities and supports them in setting their own priorities. Empowerment involves investing in people - in jobs, health, nutrition, education and social protection. When people are empowered they are better prepared to take advantage of opportunities, they become agents of change and can more readily embrace their civic responsibilities".
